Thrift Store Search List

Can you guess how much I paid for this?

( $2.95! It was a broken clock on the top half and a
chalkboard on the bottom half. More to come later on how it was
transformed)
A good rule of thumb when you go to any thrift store, is to have in mind a list of things that can be transformed into something spectacular. Always keep in mind the vision you have for your home and the style you are looking for as well.

1. Heavy Wood Pieces -Keep in mind the many things you can do with a great wood piece. Be it a Picture Frame, Peg Board, Dresser, etc. With paint, fabric or scrapbook paper, it can take on a whole new purpose.

2. Fabric -  I always find really good heavy fabric that is very cheap compared to what you would normally pay. This fabric can be used to cover ugly furniture, make non-sew curtains, and so much more. Also, vintage fabric makes cute pillows or curtains.

3. Pieces of clothing that can be transformed -Look for pieces of clothing in excellent condition that can be transformed. Men's plaid shirts can become a pretty dress for little girls. Women's long denim skirts can become distressed girls skirts. Jeans in good condition can be made into jean shorts.  Pretty sweaters at a great price can be cut up and made into pillows. Think OUTSIDE the box!

4. Housewares - Wall Art to be transformed with scrapbook paper or chalkboard paint. Metal, ceramic or glass canisters can be prettied up with paint, fabric or a good cleaning :-) Lamps with bad shades that can be redone to match your decor. Wicker baskets for organizing, can be touched up with a pretty no-sew fabric insert.

5. Books Books Books!! My children have a HUGE library with some great books. I ♥ finding books for them to add to it. Books never go out of style! Home Decor books and Cookbooks are just a few of the kind of books to be on the look out for.
